June 2018 – Child Evangelism Fellowship has ministered to students ages 5-12 since 1937. CEF recently won a permanent injunction against the Indiana Metropolitan School District of Pike Township, which illegally discriminated against Good News Clubs, CEF’s after-school outreach to grades K-5.

An Indiana federal court ruled the Pike Township school district violated the First Amendment to the Constitution by requiring CEF to pay facility usage fees not required of non-religious groups using the school venue for similar meetings.

After two years of unsuccessful negotiation, Liberty Counsel filed suit on CEF’s behalf and was originally granted a preliminary injunction. Now, with a permanent injunction, the school district was ordered to repay all fees to CEF and pay Liberty Counsel for attorney fees and costs.

“This permanent injunction … is a great victory for free speech and religious freedom,” said Horatio Mihet of Liberty Counsel.
