March 2018 – Since Roe v. Wade became law in 1973, 60 million babies have been legally aborted in the U.S. Millions of the women and men who participated in those abortions currently face another weighty consequence of their decision. Not only did they miss out on the blessing of parenting their aborted children, but they may now be missing the opportunity and joy of grandparenting.
Tewannah Amen, who once aborted a baby, and her husband John direct Florida’s Broward County Right to Life. The Amens fully understand the pain of missing out on parenting and grandparenting.
“Who would have thought that we would not go on to have more children?” remarked Amen. “The reality of abortion came back to haunt me.”
As with more than 17% of women who had an induced abortion, Amen suffered a miscarriage in a subsequent pregnancy, losing their little boy at almost 22 weeks of gestation. And like many other post-abortive women, Amen was never able to give birth to another child.
