November 2018 – The nation of Nigeria has proven to be one of the most dangerous places in the world for those following Christ.

Currently ranked the 14th worst nation regarding persecution of Christians, Nigeria has now claimed five more lives. Reverend Adamu Gyang Wurim, his wife, and their three children were burned alive in their home in the Abonong village in Foron District of Nigeria. In an attack that burned 95 houses, as well as Rev. Wurim’s church, gunmen invaded the village and started shooting at villagers.

According to a Nigerian news outlet and eye witnesses, the pastor and his family took refuge inside their house before gunmen, armed with AK-47s and machetes, surrounded the house and set it on fire, ensuring that no one escaped.

Earlier in the summer, about 120 Christians were murdered while leaving the funeral of the father of a leader in the Church of Christ in Nations in Plateau state, Nigeria. On August 18, a Catholic priest was killed near Abuja, the nation’s capital. Days later, a Baptist pastor was murdered in his church in Kaduna state, Nigeria.
