November 2018 – After renovating a rented property in Monroe, North Carolina, a church was prevented from occupying the space because of zoning restrictions. However, museums, libraries, and other nonprofits were allowed in the same area.
Alliance Defending Freedom filed suit on behalf of the church. In August, city officials voted to amend the zoning code to remove the restrictions.
ADF senior counsel Erik Stanley said, “The city has done the right thing … so that all religious congregations will benefit.”
