September 2019 – When Rodney Smith Jr. of Huntsville, Alabama, asked to be used as God’s vessel, he had no idea how that prayer would be answered. Then, on July 25, 2015, Smith saw an elderly Alabama man struggling to mow his lawn, so Smith stopped and mowed it. After that, Smith began a lawn mowing ministry called Raising Men Lawn Care Service mowing the lawns of veterans, single moms, and elderly or disabled individuals at no charge.

Smith also started driving around the nation, determined to mow the lawns of veterans in every state. In early June, he flew to Alaska and Hawaii, courtesy of Delta Airlines, and finished his 50-state challenge. Now, Smith has issued a 50-yard challenge, inspiring kids to mow the yards of neighbors in need. On his Facebook page, Smith is documenting the young people who are accepting his challenge.
