September 2019 – The MTV Awards ceremony aired across 10 Viacom owned channels, and yet, the ratings this year dropped 48% from the 2018 audience. The ceremony targets a younger audience. This year’s awards went to a number of films considered far less than family-friendly, including Birdbox, known for its dangerous blindfold “Bird Box Challenge” that resulted in a Netflix release cautioning viewers not to attempt the challenge.

TV shows winning awards included the satanic Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Big Mouth, a lewd series that features an entire episode casting Planned Parenthood in a positive light.
