June 2020 – Teva, one of Israel’s largest pharmaceutical companies, donated medical aid to the U.S. during the COVID-19 pandemic in the form of the anti-malaria drug, hydroxychloroquine, after it was discovered the drug was a helpful treatment of the virus.
Beginning March 31, more than 6 million tablets were made available to American hospitals through wholesalers in hopes of combating COVID-19. Several million more tablets were sent the following month by the Israeli pharmaceutical giant.
“We are committed to helping supply as many tablets as possible … at no cost,” said Brendan Grady, Teva’s North American executive vice president.
