June 2020 – Two iconic music artists who gave back during the widespread outbreak of COVID-19 in the U.S. are country music singer Dolly Parton and rap artist Kanye West.
West partnered with a Chicago nonprofit to help provide meals to elderly residents in his old neighborhood, the South Side of Chicago. He also donated to help the Dream Center in Los Angeles provide thousands of daily meals to those in need.
Parton, on the other hand, focused on prevention. She announced on April 1 via Instagram she would donate $1 million to COVID-19 research at Vanderbilt University, noting its “exciting advancements” toward a treatment for the virus.
