May 2021 – Michigan-based Bethany Christian Services, the United States’ largest Protestant adoption and foster care agency, recently announced it will begin offering services to LGBTQ couples and placing children in LGBTQ families.
The decision marks a shift for the evangelical organization, which, in the past, referred LGBTQ prospective adoptive and foster parents to other agencies.
The move met disappointment from Christian leaders. Among them, Al Mohler, president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, said Bethany caved to “meet the demands of the moral revolutionaries.”
