May 2021The Chosen, directed by Dallas Jenkins and distributed by VidAngel and via the app thechosen.tv, recently completed filming a depiction of one of the Bible’s most popular scenes – the Sermon on the Mount.

The multiseason television series about the life of Christ is one of the largest crowdfunded TV series of all time. For the portion of the shoot portraying Jesus Christ’s most popular sermon, The Chosen presented the opportunity for financial partners to participate as extras.

Upon completion of filming the scene, Jonathan Roumie, who plays Jesus in the series, wrote on Instagram: “What. A. Miracle. Over two thousand people bravely faced the frigid temps, all to hear Jesus’ words in the greatest sermon ever given to us by God Himself. Modern-day cinema history.”

Season 2 of The Chosen was expected to be released around Easter.
