U.S. embassies to fly LGBTQ pride flag
May 2021 – Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced on January 19 that the LGBTQ pride flag will be flown on U.S. embassies around the world. This order is a direct reversal of a policy adopted under the Trump administration that did not allow the pride flag to be flown on embassy flagpoles.
The Biden administration also plans to appoint a Special Envoy for the Human Rights of LGBTQ persons. This post was created by President Barack Obama but was left unfilled during the Trump presidency.
