February 2015 – The success of Summer Snow, the first feature-length film from American Family Studios, has led to a new novel inspired by the movie about the adventures of eight-year-old Hallie. Dandelion Trail, penned by Joy Lucius, will become available in March. Lucius occasionally writes for AFA Journal.

Unlike many novels that are tied to a film, Dandelion Trail is not a novelization of Summer Snow. It explores the earlier life of Susan, the mom from the movie, when she was a child with her missionary parents in Nicaragua.

In Dandelion Trail, when Hallie is hit by a car and lies unconscious in the hospital, she finds herself in her mother’s shoes on the mission field. The missionary family travels through the mountains and witnesses God delivering a small village from the hands of guerrilla fighters, as well as bringing a hardened policeman to salvation.

This fresh look at the world of Summer Snow makes Dandelion Trail a wonderful companion to the film that has touched so many hearts.

Watch for more information on Dandelion Trail as well as an interview with Lucius in the March issue of AFA Journal.
