January 2016 – Pro-life group Students for Life has commended 11 schools for taking special consideration of pregnant students. The hope is that resources and training will help single moms make the decision to keep their babies rather than resort to abortion.
“It’s no secret that college-age women report a higher number of abortions than any other age group,” said Students for Life president Kristan Hawkins. “No mother should be forced to choose between her child and her education.”
Nine of the schools listed have religious backgrounds, and Hawkins noted there is a balance between not condoning sinful behavior and supporting crisis pregnancies. Students for Life’s goal is for other schools to follow suit. The recommended criteria as well as the list of schools can be found at studentsforlife.org/topschools.
