January 2016 – Out Magazine, a leading gay advocacy publication, named President Barack Obama its Ally of the Year for 2015. “Whichever way you look at it, this president and his administration have ushered extraordinary change into the lives of LGBT Americans,” the magazine wrote. In an interview with Out, the president said the U.S. Supreme Court opinion supporting same-sex marriage “reflected our values as a nation.”
