January 2016 – Reportedly, there are now four American citizens who have been arrested and imprisoned in Iran. The latest arrest was of Siamak Namazi, an Iranian-American businessman who had been described by some Iranians as promoting Western values because he spoke in favor of better relations between the U.S. and Iran.
Other Americans being detained in Iran include Jason Rezaian of the Washington Post, former U.S. Marine Amir Hekmati, and pastor Saeed Abedini.
