December 2018 – According to an October study released by Pew Research, 60% of Americans accept at least one New Age belief – reincarnation, astrology, psychics, or a spiritual presence in physical objects.
Forty percent believe in psychics and that spiritual energy is found in physical objects. Thirty-three percent believe in reincarnation and 29% in astrology.
Sixty percent of self-described Christians also hold one or more of these beliefs, despite the fact that such beliefs are out of place with Christian theology and directly conflict with biblical teaching. Atheists are the least likely to hold any such beliefs.
