October 2018 – In a survey released July 22, Crossway Christian publishers asked 6,000 Bible readers about their Bible reading habits during the previous month. Matthew and Psalms were the books read most often, while Nahum was the least read.

Overall, New Testament books, especially the four Gospels, Acts, and Romans, are most popularly read. Genesis, Psalms, Proverbs, and Isaiah are the most read in the Old Testament, although Old Testament prophetic books such as Isaiah are considered the hardest to understand.

Among other findings:
▶ The average Bible reader spent 24 out of the last 30 days reading Scripture in the early morning.
▶ Barriers to reading the Bible include not having enough time, lacking motivation and discipline, and feeling intimidated.
