April 2019 – Many know Gary Sinise (above) as the actor who portrayed Lieutenant Dan in the 1994 classic movie Forrest Gump.

While filming the movie, Sinise met with wounded veterans in hospitals, and he later founded the Gary Sinise Foundation to support military members and their families. Sinise also helped start the Lt. Dan Band, a group that performs at United Service Organization events and raises funds for disabled veterans.

More recently, on January 18, Sinese made headlines for another generous gift. He donated his custom 1981 Jeep CJ7 to the Barret-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, to raise money for military veterans.

The winning bid was $200,000, but the winner promptly returned the vehicle to the auction floor, where it sold again for $100,000. An additional donation by Sunbelt Rentals brought the total amount raised to over $1.3 million.
