April 2019 – Just prior to Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27, German Chancellor Angela Merkel admitted that anti-Semitism is growing in Germany, according to World Israel News.
"There's the hatred of Jews by our local people, but also by Muslim migrants," she said. The increase follows Germany's relaxed regulation of immigrants streaming into the nation in recent years.
In the first nine months of 2018, the German Interior Ministry recorded 1,075 crimes of an anti-Semitic nature. Merkel has announced measures to turn the tide of discrimination.
