November 2021During the United States’ disastrous exit from Afghanistan, 13 U.S. servicemen and women were murdered by a suicide bomber at the Kabul airport. Their names are: David Espinoza (20), Nicole Gee (23), Darin Taylor Hoover (31), Ryan Knauss (23), Hunter Lopez (22), Rylee McCollum (20), Dylan R. Merola (20), Kareem Nikoui (20), Daegan William-Tyeler Page (23), Johanny Rosario (25), Humberto Sanchez (22), Jared Schmitz (20), and Max Soviak (22).

All across the nation, Americans lifted prayers and made donations to honor the fallen and their loved ones. GoFundMe accounts were organized for each of the families of the victims.

One of the fallen Marines, Rylee McCollum, was three weeks away from having his first child. A GoFundMe account with a goal of $5,000 was created specifically to aid in the future education of McCollum’s unborn child. After only four days, $425,000 had been donated to the account. At press time, over $600,000 had been raised to help support McCollum’s young family.
