November 2021 – InterVarsity Christian Fellowship recently won its 2019 lawsuit against University of Iowa, which had “deregistered” dozens of Christian groups while leaving pro-gay and other campus groups free to define who may or may not be members.
In July, the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower court ruling that said the university may not selectively expel student organizations from campus.
Daniel Blomberg, attorney for InterVarsity, said the decision puts other schools on notice. He said university officials had “punished opinions they didn’t like and promoted ones they did – all while using taxpayer dollars to do it.”
