November 2015 – The September issue of AFA Journal ran, without editorial context, a quote from former President Jimmy Carter which included the following: “I believe Jesus would approve gay marriage. That’s just my own personal opinion.”
Some readers questioned if AFA agreed with the former president. No, we do not. AFA believes marriage is defined by Scripture as one man and one woman. However, we believe it is important for readers to know that a man who teaches and purports to believe the Bible is teaching the exact opposite of the Scriptures on this issue.
We should have added an explanation, and we regret any misunderstanding.
