November 2015 – A national survey by American Culture and Faith Institute reveals a disconnect in what spiritually active Christian conservatives want and what pastors are willing to give them in regard to addressing political and social issues.

“More than six out of ten conservative Christians said they want their church to be more active in the upcoming election than they had been in the past couple of election cycles,” said ACFI executive director George Barna. “And two out of three of them (67%) said that they want their church to provide them with more information – more biblical teachings – about the issues that are so important in this election.”

Issues that topped the list relate to abortion, religious freedom and persecution, sexual identity, and same-sex marriage. Respondents also expressed desire for guidance on issues related to Israel, poverty, and cultural restoration.

ACFI also surveyed a large national sample of theologically conservative senior pastors and found an unwillingness to preach on many of these issues.
