November 2015 – The Values Voter Summit celebrated its 10th anniversary September 25-27 in Washington, D.C. The event was sponsored by AFA Action, Family Research Council Action, and other conservative groups. Speakers included AFA’s Urban Family Communications personality Meeke Addison, AFA’s Ed Vitagliano and Buddy Smith, and a number of conservative presidential candidates.
Vitagliano, executive vice president of AFA, said, “This is one of the most important events of the year for conservatives. With the presidential election taking place next year, the importance of VVS becomes even greater. It is AFA’s privilege to be a part of it.”
During the event, VVS held a straw poll of Republican candidates. The top three finishers were Ted Cruz (35%), Ben Carson (18%), and Mike Huckabee (14%).
Smith, senior vice president of AFA said, “It is too early in the presidential race for these numbers to have much weight, but it is obvious the American people want a true leader who is led by conservative principles, a love for country, and most importantly a love for Jesus Christ.”
