September 2015 – Half of Americans agree the Bible gives meaning to life and should have more influence on society, as the American Bible Society found in the State of the Bible 2015 survey. However, although a Bible can be found in two out of three non-Christian homes, only 14% of Americans read it daily, and 52% read it at least three times a year.

LifeWay Research pointed to eight attitudes that lead to greater engagement with the Bible:

▶ Confessing sins to God
▶ Following Jesus Christ for years
▶ Uncompromising obedience to God
▶ Praying for unbelievers
▶ Reading books about spiritual growth
▶ Receiving one-on-one discipleship
▶ Memorizing Bible verses
▶ Attending small group Bible study.
