August 2020Disastrous rioting and looting began in May, sparked by the death of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer. Mobs in that city vandalized, looted, and/or burned more than 400 businesses and did more than $500 million in damages.

The lawless riots spread to many cities across the nation. In response, countless citizens quickly began to help clean up wreckage left by the mobs.

In Indianapolis, about 20 teens with Central Indiana Youth for Christ helped remove graffiti and clean up streets around the city.

In Texas, Brian Irving drove to downtown Houston and spent four hours cleaning graffiti off city buildings.

Irving cited the JFK quote: “Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.”

AFA vice president Wesley Wildmon said, “It was good to see these volunteers come out. They demonstrated the true American spirit.”
