August 2020 – Google Images has long been one of the top search engines to find information and view photos online. But it has lacked in the area of protecting young eyes from graphic images of pornography. For example, in the past, if a student were to Google the name of an anatomical body part for help in biology class, instead of research help, he might be blasted with hardcore porn.
The National Center of Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) has fought the obscenity Google has facilitated for years. NCOSE reported that after many fruitless meetings with the media mogul, Google Images is stepping up with its search engine safety and reducing the risk of instant pornographic content showing up. Instead of showcasing pornographic images when googling body parts, a search should result in only educational content.
