Above, Pastor Nerren greets his family upon his return.
August 2020 – Pastor Bryan Nerren of International House of Prayer in Shelbyville, Tennessee, was finally released after being detained in India for more than seven months. Facing false charges for failing to declare money intended for Asian Children’s Education Fellowship, a nonprofit Christian ministry, Nerren was arrested as soon as he landed in Bagdogra, India, in early October 2019. Throughout his six days in jail and subsequent months of detention, Nerren was represented by advocates from American Center for Law and Justice, but Tennessee Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R) and Lamar Alexander (R) also worked diligently to end the religious persecution of Pastor Nerren. Family, friends, and supporters gathered at Nashville International Airport on May 19 to welcome Nerren home.
