November 2019Seventy-four percent of Episcopal parishes now have an average attendance of fewer than 100 persons, according to recent statistics from the denomination’s Office of the General Convention.

Overall average Sunday attendance declined 4.2% from 556,744 to 533,206 in 2018. During the past five years, 59% of congregations have seen attendance declines of 10% or more.

Recent data revealed a long, uninterrupted plunge in membership that parallels the denomination’s embrace of theological liberalism.
