November 2019Barnegat Township, New Jersey, Mayor Alsonso Cirulli denounced a state law requiring public schools to teach LGBT history, calling it an “affront to Almighty God.” The curriculum for middle and high schools is scheduled to be implemented in the 2020-21 school year.

“[W]e’ve crossed the line into absurdity,” Cirulli said. “Now is the time for the righteous to stand up for their rights.”

The Republican mayor said polls indicate that 71% of the city’s citizens are Christians, and the LGBT curriculum may well conflict with their religious beliefs. He encouraged citizens to pressure state lawmakers to rescind the law.
