November 2019 – In late August, a federal appeals court ruled in favor of Telescope Media Group and its owners, Carl and Angel Larsen, who declined to make a video directly opposing their religious beliefs. The 8th U.S. District Court of Appeals overturned a lower court’s dismissal of the lawsuit based on claims that the Christian filmmakers were legally bound under Minnesota’s Human Rights Act to produce films supporting same-sex marriage.
“This is a significant win,” said Jeremy Tedesco, senior counsel for Alliance Defending Freedom, who had argued the Larsens’ case before the 8th Circuit in October 2018.
“The government shouldn’t threaten filmmakers with fines and jail time to force them to create films that violate their beliefs,” said Tedesco.
