November 2019 –  When Louisiana students returned to public schools in August, the national motto, “In God We Trust,” should have been on display. Gov. John Bel Edwards(R) signed Louisiana Senate Bill 244 into law in May 2018. With the minimal requirement of a paper sign, each school may choose how to display the motto.

“I still feel strongly that America is a Christian nation,” said West Monroe High School principal Shelby Ainsworth. “I want our high school youngsters exposed to as much of that as possible.”
