November 2019 – After outrage over The Hunt, the movie was cancelled by Universal Studios. Its plot depicted well-to-do vacationers hunting “deplorables” (or Trump supporters) for sport.
AFA gathered more than 45,000 signatures to pull The Hunt from theaters.
With the cancellation announcement, AFA executive vice president Ed Vitagliano thanked supporters for signing the petition.
Vitagliano said, “This is a sick concept for a movie. But it also highlights the fact that our nation is sick at heart and mind. … We’re glad Universal has pulled the film, but we’re going to continue to watch Universal carefully. We want to make sure they do not ever release this movie.”
